Hurricane Nicole hits Bermuda with no interruption to processing

Bermuda. October 18, 2016 — The First Atlantic Commerce (FAC) offices re-opened on Friday, October 14th following a direct hit by Hurricane Nicole on Thursday, October 13th, and were operating as usual.

The storm made landfall on Thursday, October 13th with powerful winds and torrential rainfall that caused widespread power outages, flooding, fallen trees and damage to homes.  Transaction processing services were not affected by the Hurricane, and all processing continued as usual.

FAC’s payment gateway platform is hosted at Link Bermuda, which maintains independent power supply and is a world-class hurricane proof facility. As expected, while Hurricane Nicole hit Bermuda, FAC provided processing services without interruption.

Initially a category 4 storm, as it approached the island, Hurricane Nicole weakened and was downgraded to a Cat 3 before hitting Bermuda.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1st to November 30th.
