James Gibbons, Chairman

James Gibbons, born 1963, is a Bermudian citizen, residing in Bermuda. He was educated at Harrow School, England and received a BSBA in Finance from Georgetown University in 1985. He worked as a registered representative for Prudential Bache Securities 1985-1986, as a Director of Gibbons Management Services Limited from 1986-1989, as Managing Director of Gibbons Deposit Company Limited from 1989-1999, and is currently President and CEO of CAPITAL G Limited, Chairman of CAPITAL G Bank Limited, and President of Bermuda Air Conditioning Limited. He is an Independent Director of RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd and numerous other Boards. He is a member of the Bermuda Government’s Council of Economic Advisors, The Waterfront Task Force, and Monetary Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Mayor’s Commission on the Future of the City of Hamilton (2006-2007) and Public Funds Investment Committee (1993-1998). He is a member of the Bermuda Zoological Society’s and Youthnet’s Advisory Boards. He is also an Honourary Trustee of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

Lt. Col. David Gibbons, O.B.E. (Mil), E.D., J.P.

David Gibbons was born in 1960. He attended Harrow School in England and Dartmouth College in the USA. From 1987-1989 he was Aide de Camp to Viscount Dunrossil and Major General Sir Desmond Langley, Governors of Bermuda. He was Commanding Officer, The Bermuda Regiment from 2000-2002. He is currently Managing Director of Bermuda Motors, Managing Director of Gibbons Co. Ltd, Marketing Director of Burrows, Lightbourn Ltd., Director and Member of the Executive Committee, Colonial Group International, and holds numerous other Directorships. He is a member of the Bermuda Regiment’s Defence Board and Promotions Board. He is President of The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association.

Alberto Espana

Alberto Espana has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry in the United States and Latin America, having worked for leaders such as American Express, Banco Santander, Visa International and Citigroup.  He is currently a Partner with the boutique-consulting firm, Xtrategies LLC, based in Coral Gables, Florida and in charge of the Risk Management practice, with over 80 customers in the United States, Europe and Latin America, including the largest financial institutions and industry operators. Among his major accomplishments are managing a US$1.5 Billion credit card portfolio, and operational responsibility for 1.3 million credit and banking customers.  He developed multi-country, bilingual call centers, and has served on the board of Total System de Mexico, Controladora Prosa, and TransUnion de Mexico. Alberto holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Wichita State University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISPP).  

Cesar A Solorzano  

Cesar Solorzano was born in Ambato, Ecuador in 1952.  His family moved to New York City in 1958, where he grew up.  He attended City College of New York and it was during his second year in college (1971) that he joined the American Express Company to help pay for his education. He quickly climbed the ranks becoming a Supervisor within two years and later being named Manager of the Authorization department for a new Florida Operations Center.  In 1979 he joined the newly formed Latin American Division as Regional Manager of Operations.   In 1982, he was named Director of Credit Services for Mexico.  This was followed by several progressive assignments to Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.   His last expatriate position was Vice President/General Manager of Operations for Mexico and the Latin American & Caribbean Dollar Businesses managing close to 1500 people with an Operating Budget of 75 million dollars. Mr. Solorzano has been both the architect and implementer of major strategic decisions including launching internationally valid card products in Mexico & Brazil; relocation of Operational activities from Sao Paulo to Uberlandia, Brazil (involving over 1000 people); and consolidation of CPUs to Phoenix. His last assignment was heading up the Latin American Region’s international restructuring effort in 2005 that achieved over 10 million dollars in savings. Cesar’s education includes three years at City College, two years at University of Miami attending International MBA classes and a MBA degree from the University of Wake Forest.  He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. He is a member of the American Society of Quality, Rotary Club of Stuart, Florida and VP & Board Member of Monarch Country Club Home Owners Association.
